Teri Worten Brooks has spent almost ten years working in the nonprofit sector. Her work began with the development of an innovative support network for women parenting alone. Sisters Helping Sisters was created in the fall of 1997. As a young single mother, Teri knew first-hand the struggles and demands on women parenting alone.

Teri also worked in the nonprofit sector as manager of parent and community relations at YouthNet of Greater Kansas City. YouthNet gained a national reputation for being a capacity-building organization providing training and technical assistance to organizations throughout the midwest.
